A cellar door isn’t a joinery item; it’s the thermal boundary of a wine cellar climate-controlled room. However well the walls are insulated, a door or window that doesn’t perform bypasses all of it, and the climate system runs to make up the difference.

We treat doors and windows as part of the envelope. They’re thermally broken, and we use cellar glazing rather than standard glazing, so heat and cold don’t bridge straight through. Every opening is designed using the same cellar design principles that govern the rest of the room — sized and set out to hold the climate, not just to look right.

Visible or concealed — timber, glass, insulated panel or hidden behind joinery — the door is designed to the room, and its specification is aligned with our climate control system so the whole envelope works as one and the warranties align. The detailed specification is developed and documented once we’re engaged.
