WORK WITH OUR STUDIO

For design teams.

Cellar Creations is the specialist cellar division of First Impressions Projects — registered designers and registered builders, domestic and commercial. We speak the language of the design team and the site, and we work as part of yours.

Why specify us

The cellar, de-risked.

Registered designers and builders

The specialist cellar division of First Impressions Projects: registered designers, and registered builders in both domestic and commercial. We understand your drawings, your program and your consent path, because we work in all three.

Feasibility first

We begin with a scope of works and feasibility study. What the room will take, what it will cost, and where the design decisions sit — so the aesthetic and the budget are reconciled while both are still moveable.

One conversation, not three

Design, sketch proposals, componentry, climate and technical detail all come from the same team. No coordinating between a designer, a joiner and an installer.

We speak builder

We read your drawings, coordinate with the head contractor and the services trades, and work to your program rather than around it — carrying your design intent through to the build.

Part of the team, not over it

We work as part of the design team, not in place of it. We take the design brief and the design intent as the starting point, respect it, and find the way to realise it in our racking — collaborating through the detail rather than handing back something you didn’t draw.

HOW WE WORK

How we work with the design team.

First, a scope of works and feasibility study. What the room will take, what the cellar will cost, and where the design decisions sit. This is where the aesthetic brief and the client’s budget get reconciled — early, while both are still moveable.

Then, once we’re aligned and engaged, we work as part of the design team. Sketch design proposals, detail and elevation drawings, specification text, componentry schedules, climate strategy, and timber, finish and washi samples — developed with you, for your project.

Climate control is designed and supplied as part of a Cellar Creations cellar. We don’t supply cooling as a standalone item.

Solid timber

We build in solid timber. Everything else is a conversation.

We don’t work from a catalogue. Curved and concave runs, backlit Shoji, full-height architectural racking — custom geometry is where this workshop is strongest.

But we build in solid timber, and the weight of the wine travels down through the racking. That’s a real constraint, and it’s what gives a cellar its structural integrity twenty years in. We take design intent seriously and work through it with you — and where the drawing and the timber disagree, we’ll say so early and find the solution together, rather than build something that won’t hold.

Working together

Where we plug into your process.

1

Concept

Early advice on space, services and feasibility, so the cellar is designed in rather than retrofitted.

2

Design dev.

Scope of works and feasibility study. Cost and aesthetic reconciled before the design locks.

3

Documentation

Once engaged: sketch proposals, detail and elevation drawings, specification text and componentry schedules.

4

Construction

Supply, setting out and technical support. Across Australia, New Zealand and internationally we supply and support the install, travelling to install where the project calls for it. Closer to home we can build and install.

5

Handover

Commissioning, care notes, and a cellar that performs as documented.
