CELLAR SYSTEMS

Straight Concave.

A concave face in natural cedar. Linear, rhythmic, sculptural.

Straight Concave Wine Cellar Racking.

Straight Concave is a sculptural system. The rack face is drawn to a concave radius using boat-building techniques, so bottles sit forward or back across the curve — always horizontal, but never on a single plane. What you get isn’t a flat wall of wine. It’s a shaped one, and the light falls across it differently at every point.

We set the base and head depths to the room: the concave can lean back at the floor and break forward across the ceiling line — like a wave about to break — or sit more upright where the space is tighter.

It is at its best seen along its length, where the rhythm of the curve reads. Straight on, the form quietens.

Made in natural cedar, to any concave radius. Our standard radius is shown here. Designed by Robert Rolls, and unique to Cellar Creations.

Seen along its length the curve reads as a wave. Straight on, it keeps its secret.

  • Material — Natural cedar.
  • Finish — Natural.
  • Profile — Concave face, made to any radius. Standard radius as shown.
  • Configurations — Bottle displays can be integrated. They interrupt the sculptural line, but offer a practical way to showcase wine and to read what is stored above and below. Fully customisable.
  • Capacity — Approximately 100 bottles per square metre of rack face, subject to bottle format and configuration.
  • Orientation — Bottles laid horizontally, sitting forward or back across the concave face.
  • Applications — Feature walls, galley cellars, long linear spaces.
  • Lighting — Fully customisable, including backlighting through a rear void.
  • Bottle formats — Set out for standard bottles; fully customisable to any configuration.
  • Depth — Typically 600mm to 1m, depending on ceiling height and the concave radius. Base and head depths are set to the room; the load path of the bottles is designed in.

A flat wall is a fabrication job. A concave one is a geometry problem.

Important notice

Cellar Creations designs and builds bespoke wine cellars and racking. We do not sell wine, spirits, beer or any other alcohol, and we do not hold a liquor licence.

A third party website is currently publishing a listing under our business name, address and telephone number describing us as a retailer of wine and spirits, with trading hours and a photograph that are not ours, alongside alcohol offered for sale. That listing was not authorised by us and the information in it is false.

We are also receiving a high volume of enquiries that are not genuine, including requests for video consultations to work through design options and costings where there is no project behind them. It is taking us longer than usual to separate a real enquiry from a false one. If your enquiry has been met with more caution than you expected, that is why, and we are sorry for it. We ask genuine clients to bear with us.

If you have arrived here expecting to buy wine, you have been misdirected. We design and build generational pieces that celebrate wood and woodworking, one at a time, for the people who commission them and the people who behold them. You can see that work in our project galleries and on our YouTube channel, RR Creative Studio.
